Wednesday, June 9, we left Silverton and drove just an hour to a rural campground at Canyon, Texas.
Our kind of place! Minnie got to drive on her own without having to follow Maxx quite so closely as usual!
We got set up really quickly and then made our way to the Panhandle & Plains Historical Society Museum. This museum is wonderful and our friends the Adams & Danners met us there. I stupidly thought I could do it without Marcel even though Mark tried to convince me it would be very easy to get it out.
As soon as I walked from the car up all those stairs and into the big lobby I realized I had made a mistake. I hadn’t said a word when Mark said, “Dear, they have wheelchairs!” The ticket agent said we were welcome to use one. Whew! Thanks, Mark! What a guy! No hills like Silver Dollar City!

I took a whole bunch of pictures like I always do, but realize I can’t smack them all in a blog post. Suffice it to say, this is a great place to visit. This is our second time here.
Then it was on to Amarillo to The Big Texan.
It is always fun to shop and look around while we wait.

Mr Bud Light. Ha! I always give him a taste just to see this!
The next day we visited an RV museum with some fun old campers & RVs. This was the one from the movie “RV”.

A stop at a western store and a couple new hats ended our day. Back to Maxx to be ready to say goodbye to Texas and head home on the next day, June 11.

There was a guy who unsuccessfully tried to eat the 72 oz steak dinner while we were there. I seriously don’t know why anyone would pay the $72 to even try. I guess it HAS been done.
The Danners were good sports!

Avery, the steer & me!
Funny that it has the name Max. They spelled it wrong!
We said goodbye to our friends and went out to Palo Duro Canyon. Photos from there are in a previous post. It got up to 108° while we were there! We ate our lunch inside the car with the AC!

It was a good trip. April 11 to June 11. Two months!
