We are small town people. We love trading with small town businesses and visiting with small town folks.
Here are some of the towns we spent time in from the last week or so of our trip which ended in the Texas Panhandle.
Their high school mascot is the Owls!
We got to know the County Judge. Wayne gave me a map of Briscoe County which helped me navigate out in the country to meet the Stagecoach Journey which resulted in a wonderful day! We took Wayne cookies! (No, I didn’t bake. They have a Dollar General!.😉)
We had great cheeseburgers at the local malt shop.

Mark also stopped and visited with an old-timer who directed us right to the JA Ranch headquarters, which no one else had been able to do!
Quitaque, Texas, (pronounced Kitty-quay), was our gateway to Caprock Canyon.
I had my first Allsup’s burrito in Quitaque. Yum!
Turkey, Texas, home of Bob Wills, of Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys!

Groom, Texas. This 190-foot-tall, 1,250-ton free-standing cross monument just off Interstate 40 near Groom, can be seen from twenty miles away and since 1995 has been a familiar landmark along Interstate 40 and historic Route 66 in Carson County, Texas. We have driven by it numerous times but never stopped. This time we took a drive TO it. Beautiful tribute to Jesus.
Clarendon, Goodnight, Claude, Memphis & Estelline, Texas! All places we have never taken time to visit! We enjoyed what we saw of each one.
