Well... I looked on my iPad and found a different route for us, and it was the shortest route so this seasoned navigator said “let’s go that way!”, up through Springfield, angling down through Joplin to Tulsa and down to Oklahoma City. Maxx’s navigator said “NO, don’t go that way” and kept trying to turn us around but the iPhone said “GO!” so we went. We were thoroughly committed before I realized we would be driving on toll roads all the way from Joplin! All in all, I think it ended up being about $30 total so it didn’t break us, but I have learned my lesson. Listen to Maxx’s navigator!
We actually left Treasure Lake by 8:00 am which is totally unusual for us. We hitched Minnie up and left in the rain but it wasn’t bad. The rain didn’t last long.
Another drive by flag shooting!
This was actually a “Golden Arches”... McDonald’s!
Now.... here is Mark’s account from his Facebook page:
“Today was an interesting experience thru Tulsa....construction and narrow lanes aside....cruising along, I suddenly see cars & truck swerving....brakes....you name it! The lane I was next to had a 8x8 foot trailer lying in this lane.....wow! Needless to say we avoided a pretty bad situation....Maxx & Minnie went thru some pretty drastic calisthenics!
AND MISS VICKI WAS IN THE BACK FIXING LUNCH HANGING ON FOR DEAR LIFE!”

I did not see any of this, but let me just say that Mark Allen is the best driver I know and he is unflappable under pressure! .... but he did tell me that, through no fault of his own, he thought we were gonna get creamed by a pick-up who thought he needed to come around us right as he was coming upon that trailer! Whether it was Mark’s mad driving skills or the angels encamping round about us, I do not know, but thank God we did not get creamed!
When I got back up front with our food, Mark said, “you didn’t see ANY of what was going on up here, did you?!” I didn’t!!
It felt good to relax in our little RV park behind the Best Western and Denny’s at El Reno!
